Flow Measurement
1020CZ10
Brooks GT1000 Glass-Tube Variable-Area Flowmeter
About this part
1020CZ10 identifies an observed Brooks GT1000 industrial glass-tube variable-area flowmeter. The GT1000 uses a tapered borosilicate-glass tube and float for visual gas or liquid flow measurement and was offered with configurable tube sizes, floats, scales, process connections, alarms, seals, and fitting materials. The short 1020CZ10 identifier does not conform to the complete model-code format in the final Brooks GT1000 literature, so its unit-specific options must be confirmed from the instrument nameplate, scale, and construction rather than inferred from the later code table
Configurations vary. Verify the exact unit before choosing a replacement.

| Metering tube | Borosilicate glass |
| Window | Polycarbonate with UV inhibitor |
| Housing | Epoxy-painted cast aluminum |
| End-fitting options | Brass or 316/316L stainless steel |
| O-ring options | Viton fluoroelastomer, Buna-N, Kalrez perfluoroelastomer, or EPDM; availability depends on fitting material |
| Scale options | Single or dual detachable aluminum scale; nominal lengths 127, 200, or 250 mm; direct-reading, millimeter, or percent graduations |
| Process-connection options | NPT or Rc/BSPT female threads, or ANSI B16.5 Class 150 raised-face flanges |
| Maximum non-shock pressure range | 75 to 500 psig (5.2 to 34.5 bar), depending on tube size and threaded or flanged connection; this range is not an exact 1020CZ10 rating |
Identifier and model-code boundary
Brooks' April 2018 GT1000 data sheet publishes a 16-field ordering code beginning with 1020N, 1024N, 1026N, or 1027N. The shorter 1020CZ10 identifier lacks the documented base-model suffix and contains characters that cannot be placed reliably into that later format. It should therefore be retained as the exact observed legacy identifier without assigning an exact tube, float, alarm, seal, fitting, connection, scale, or accuracy option from the 2018 code table.
Published GT1000 connection-orientation codes
These manufacturer-published codes describe the later GT1000 ordering system and provide family context; they are not exact aliases for 1020CZ10.
| Published base model | Inlet orientation | Outlet orientation |
|---|---|---|
| 1020N | Horizontal | Horizontal |
| 1024N | Vertical | Vertical |
| 1026N | Horizontal | Vertical |
| 1027N | Vertical | Horizontal |
Replacement relationship
Brooks identifies the GT1600 as the replacement family for legacy GT1000 meters, with retrofit configurations available for existing installations. Replacement selection remains configuration-dependent.
Safety and installation essentials
The glass metering tube is a pressure-containing component and requires the precautions specified by Brooks.
- Mount the flowmeter body within 6 degrees of true vertical, with flow entering at the bottom and leaving at the top.
- Open process valves slowly and avoid pressure or flow surges.
- Do not exceed the pressure and temperature limits marked for the configured instrument.
- Do not service or repair the flowmeter while it is pressurized.
- Keep the protective sleeve over the glass tube on applicable sizes and fasten the meter windows securely.
- Drain trapped liquid before isolating both adjacent valves to prevent pressure from thermal expansion.
