Brooks 1358F1A1EB1F9A is a legacy Sho-Rate “50” Series size-8 glass-tube variable-area flowmeter. Its code specifies an R-8M-75-1 tube, 8-RV-8 stainless-steel float, tube-mounted GPM liquid scale, legacy Viton/Buna sealing combination, brass 3/8-inch NPT fittings, and an interface for an 8810 flow controller. The selected float and scale correspond to a catalog maximum of 0.8 gpm water at specific gravity 1.0 and viscosity 1.0 cP, with standard ±10% full-scale accuracy. Newer Brooks ordering tables omit the legacy seal code and impose a different compatibility note on orientation code 9, so replacement selection should use the complete identifier and the unit serial/nameplate data
Configurations vary. Verify the exact unit before choosing a replacement.

What Does 1358F1A1EB1F9A Mean?
The identifier follows the Brooks Model 1358 ordering-code structure. Legacy and current Brooks tables were reconciled where the available option set changed.
R-8M-75-1 tube; the legacy table describes this as the cut-off version
A
Float
8-RV-8 float, 316 stainless steel

Scale arrangement
Scale on the metering tube with plain side plates
E
Scale inscription
GPM liquid scale for specific gravity 1.0 and viscosity 1.0 cP; standard ±10% full-scale accuracy
B
Tube packing and O-ring
Viton tube packing with Buna O-ring; defined in the January 2017 table but omitted from January 2019 and current tables
1
Fitting and connection
3/8-inch NPT connection with brass fitting and adapter
F
Valve/controller configuration
Provision for mounting to an 8810 flow controller; Brooks specifies the controller as a separate line item

Revision-Dependent Configuration
This is a legacy configuration code that cannot be reproduced directly from the current ordering table. Brooks’ January 2017 data sheet defines packing code B as Viton tube packing with a Buna O-ring and permits orientation 9 as inlet-right/outlet-back. The January 2019 and current tables omit packing code B and state that orientation 9 is for 8812/8830 controller configurations, while code F denotes an 8810 controller interface. For a replacement assembly, provide Brooks with the complete model code and the original serial/nameplate information; do not substitute a current configuration solely from the visible meter dimensions.
Installation and Safety Notes
Mount the Model 1358 within 6 degrees of true vertical and support the piping so it does not strain the meter.
Introduce flow slowly and avoid pressure or flow surges.
If adjacent valves isolate a liquid-filled meter, drain it to prevent rupture caused by thermal expansion.
Do not operate above the applicable pressure and temperature limits; the lowest-rated component in the meter/controller assembly governs.
Brooks warns against using the glass-tube meter with toxic fluids or fluids that attack glass, including steam, alkalis, fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, molten metal, and water above 140°F.
