Application and safety boundaries
The glass metering tube requires conservative fluid selection and vertical installation.
- Install with the inlet at the bottom and outlet at the top; the full installation manual specifies mounting within 6 degrees of true vertical.
- Do not use the glass-tube meter with toxic fluids or fluids that chemically attack glass, including steam, alkalis, fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, molten metal, or water above 60 °C (140 °F).
- Initiate flow slowly to avoid a surge, and provide bypass and isolation piping where servicing or cleaning is required.
- The direct-reading scale is application-specific. The D3 water and air capacities are manufacturer reference values and do not establish the unit’s calibrated process fluid or printed engineering units.
